Academics

SeanSondermanEach day, the Long Trail School campus is energized by the excitement of students learning.  Our dedicated teachers, exceptional facilities, and supportive school community are all focused on the success of each student’s educational journey.  This success results from a balanced academic approach that is traditional in design, yet innovative in its implementation.

Long Trail School is organized into the Middle and Upper School:  the Middle School encompasses the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades; and ninth through twelfth grades define the Upper School.  The relationship between student and teacher at both levels is what truly makes Long Trail unique.  We view the relationship as a partnership with the shared goal of instilling our core values of integrity, kindness of spirit, openness, social responsibility, and stewardship within the context of a well-rounded academic student.

Through coordination among the departments, our curriculum is designed so that each successive grade augments our students’ mastery of skills, critical content, and continued maturation.  Through the leadership of our Department Heads and Dean of Academics, the curriculum is continually assessed and refined to ensure the best possible academic opportunities for our students.

While Long Trail School has lofty expectations for our students, we provide a nurturing environment and individual support, including a Learning Center and College Counseling.  Our academic program prepares our students to succeed in college and in life with an enduring love of learning.
