Current State of the Vermont Economy

What is the current state of the Vermont economy? What do we know about the state of the Vermont labor market, including trends in employment, unemployment, and labor force participation? Which industries and regions in the state are growing? Which are in decline? How will an aging population and changing demographics impact Vermont labor market and economy in the years to come? This lecture will include national and global level trends and their impact on Vermont.
Kevin is the Economic & Labor Market Information Assistant Chief and a staff economist for the Vermont Department of Labor. In addition to his work with VDoL he holds faculty positions at The University of Vermont and Community College of Vermont where he teaches economics and international development. He holds an bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Applied Economics from the University of Vermont. When he’s not working you can find Kevin riding his bike, playing in the woods or chasing his five-year-old daughter around the yard. Kevin’s penchant for economics started in the fifth grade when he forgot his lunch money.
Scott Magrath will take a limited number of interested students to the NEACAC college fair at Berkshire Community College.
