This course provides a military perspective on the modern US political system, focusing on the military industrial complex and the objectives of war. The course begins with a tour of the philosophical foundation for modern war theory looking at Bentham, Kant, and others. After this review, a chronological look at the 20th century military engagements of the US will be conducted. Resources used will include: historical primary sources, newspapers, magazines, the internet, movies, and national television.
