Student Trips

school busLTS students and faculty journey far and wide, seeking educational and enriching activities beyond the Green Mountains of Dorset.

6th and 7th Grade Overnight
The 6th and 7th grade classes travel together on a yearly trip alternating between New York City and Boston in April.

8th Grade: Montreal, Canada
The eighth grade class travels to to Montreal, Canada for 3 days in April. Student input is considered when planning the cultural and entertainment destinations.

9th Grade: Washington, DC
The 9th grade class spends all year preparing for their one-week trip to our nation’s capitol in April. The ninth graders fundraise throughout the year to reduce the overall cost. Once in D.C., the students visit a variety of national landmarks, from Arlington Cemetery to the White House.

10th Grade: Germany and Spain

10th grade students participate in an exchange program with students in Germany and Spain.  In the fall, Long Trail sophomores host the German and Spanish students for two weeks while they attend classes at LTS.  In the Spring, our students stay with their host “sibling” for two weeks.

National Parks Trip

Every other year History teacher Tim Smith takes a group of students to explore the National Parks of the USA.
