LTS Wins Bike to School Award 
10 Schwinn bicycles and 20 helmets were awarded to Long Trail School as a recognition of the school’s participation in last year’s May 4 Walk and Bike to School Day in Vermont. Participation took many forms since LTS has students and faculty from over 30 Vermont and New York towns. Groups of faculty and students biked from Pawlet and from Manchester. Those interested in walking convened on the Dorset Green and trekked to the school. Everyone arrived in time for classes.
Long Trail has participated in the Walk and Bike to School Day for the past five years. As coordinator of the event, Courtney Callo has watched the enthusiasm for participation grow. She announced, “We are thrilled with our new bikes and helmets and hope this will allow more students to participate next spring.” These new bikes and helmets will be available for school use in Physical Arts and enrichment classes as well. They are a welcome addition to the school’s sports gear.
