Prerequisite: Middle School Drama I

This course shows the bridges between storytelling, mythology, and theatre through various performative techniques. The ancient art of storytelling and the theatricality it brings to the stage will be the primary focus of the course. Students will explore hand puppetry, shadow puppetry, mask, and other non-realistic techniques of theatre as both performers and explorers of these forms. They will analyze the connections these genres of performance have to particular cultures, and they will be asked to adapt mythological texts as well as experiment together in creating original works that have current relevance in their lives.
