This class is an introductory laboratory for exploring instrumental and vocal music of all kinds. Through routine listening and group analysis, students learn to discuss music in terms of the fundamental elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, tempo, and texture. Students learn basic music theory and notation. Through hands-on group lessons, students learn the basic techniques and concepts for playing each type of instrument found in a rock/jazz combo, including drum set, hand percussion, bass, guitar, and keyboards.
