Tony Award-winning Musical “IN THE HEIGHTS” at Long Trail School

Long Trail is excited to announce its 2019 fall musical, Tony Award-winning In the Heights by Lin-Manuel Miranda, will be performed on Friday and Saturday, November 22 & 23 at 6:30 pm and Sunday, November 24 at 2:00 pm.

In the Heights tells the story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

Stage Director Anna Bean says “My theater students love the musical Hamilton so I looked into obtaining its rights. Hamilton was not released but Miranda’s earlier musical, In the Heights, was available. ITH has the same rhythms as HamiltonITH’s music is based in hip-hop, rhythm and blues, and traditional musical theater. The story is one of the joys and complexities of many Latinx immigrant cultures coming together during a hot summer in the 1990s in upper Manhattan.”

The cast and crew includes Leon Bell, Sam Carris, Lorelei Goodell, Henry Harding (tech), Nora Heffernan-Smith, Emma Hoffmann (tech), Olivia Hunter (tech), Martha Hutcheson, Timur Langford, Ann Levering (tech), Emma Luikart, Molly Luikart, Jade Marantz, Nora McTeigue, Pilar Niles, Julian Pirie, Victoria Quigley, Melanie Slentz, Lindsey Treat, Jae VanDerWielen, Lillie Wildman, Natalie Wildman, Zach Wildman and Jenna Zernhel. Stage Direction by Anna Bean, Music Direction by Erika Tyler and Choreography by Kelley Gaiotti.
