June 24-28

$300 Adventure Treks: Hiking, climbing, camping, water safety and recreation, identifying the wildlife of Vermont, these are all things students will learn in this basic outdoor skills course. On top of this, campers will learn from experienced outdoor educators lessons in teambuilding and leadership. All of this is integral to embracing the outdoors for a lifetime of recreation. The course will culminate in a one night overnight at one of the local state parks.  Due to our dedication to safety, this course will be limited to the first twelve registrants.

July 1-5

$225 Creative Writing: Campers will get a survey of various genres of writing: fiction, poetry, scriptwriting, and non-fiction/memoir. The environment of the writing workshop will allow students to get constructive feedback on their work from the instructor and their peers in order to see how the structure of a writing workshop is vital to the work of an author. Students will also receive tutorials on how they might select the best opportunities to submit their work.

$250 Vermont Farm Life: Small local farms are important to the food of Vermonters, but they are also part of what makes the Long Trail School what it is. Many Long Trail students’ families own local farms that contribute to this part of Vermont living. In this course students will visit local farms and learn about what it takes to create and use locally grown food, care for animals, and learn how this is accomplished in a manner that is sustainable to the ecosystem of Vermont.

July 8-12

$250 Theater: For those with a flair for the dramatic, this course offers an opportunity for students to collaboratively produce a short one act play, or series of scenes. In this course students will get an in depth introduction into the crafts of acting, directing, and stage design.

July 15-19

$250 Graphic Design: Utilizing the new Innovation Lab at Long Trail School students will get a taste at what it takes to conceive and implement a creative concept on a digital platform.

$225 Math Boot Camp: For those students looking to improve or build on their math acumen, this course offers a fun, interactive curriculum that enriches a camper’s ability to take on the challenges of middle school math.
