You Gotta Go!! “Urinetown, the Musical” at Long Trail School on November 16 and 17
Long Trail is excited to announce its 2018 fall musical, the hilarious, Tony Award-winning comedy Urinetown, the Musical by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis.
This musical is set during a water shortage caused by a 20-year drought which has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. Citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a malevolent company that profits by charging admission. Deciding he has had enough, a hero plans a revolution. Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards and two Obie Awards, this satirical musical is a commentary on capitalism, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, politics, greed, and the musical theater.
Stage Director Anna Bean says “I saw the New York premiere of Urinetown in 2001, right after the 9/11 attacks. The audience did not feel comfortable laughing, yet we needed desperately to do so. I hope watching this version, created by incredibly hard-working middle- and upper-school Long Trail School students, amuses and educates, as, in my opinion, all intriguing theater does.”
The cast features Leon Bell, Kassidy Brooks, Lorelei Goodell,, Emma Hoffman, Olivia Hunter, Timur Langford, Emma Luikart, Molly Luikart, Katie Marthage, Nikoline Norman,Julian Pirie, Victoria Quigley, Jae VanDerWielen, Aimee Wildman, Lillie Wildman, Zach Wildman
With only two performances, Urinetown, the Musical, is sure to sell out!
