The first round application deadline is February 1.  Admission decisions for February 1 applicants are sent to families mid-February.

After the February 1 deadline, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for any remaining open seats. 

All applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee, which consists of select school leaders and faculty members.  The final admission decision rests with the Head of School.  

For homeschoolers, we ask for evidence or grades from your homeschool curriculum.  If the homeschooled student does not have any standardized testing scores, they should take the WRAT-4 at LTS.

Unless there are extenuating circumstances, a visit day is required of all applicants.

Students must be fully vaccinated according to the State of Vermont schedule, unless this criteria is met:

• Medical Exemption: A reason for a medical exemption must be set forth in writing by a board-certified physician explaining that a particular immunization is detrimental to a child’s health. Such a medical exemption waives the requirement for that particular immunization until the immunization is no longer detrimental to the child’s health.

• Long Trail School does not accept religious or philosophical exemptions

A schedule of required vaccinations under Vermont state law is available from the School Nurse or your pediatrician.

Yes, the Director of Admission sees every application and enjoys meeting with every student and family personally.

Our admissions process is “need-blind,” meaning that we evaluate students on their merits alone, without knowledge of their financial background.

Families apply for FINANCIAL AID in an online application through Clarity.  Clarity calculates the amount the family can afford on education, or the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC).  It is important to note that the funding for financial aid is finite, and families need to meet the deadline of March 1 in order to be considered.  For direct questions on financial aid, please contact our business office.

Yes, LTS has a large fleet of buses and an extensive network of routes traversing Southwestern Vermont. There is an additional cost for busing that is calculated based on distance traveled to and from school.
