LTS Students Attend Tufts University Summer Program
September 2024 – Last fall, Long Trail School announced an exciting partnership with Tufts University, creating summer opportunities for our high school students. Located just outside Boston, Tufts offers a range of one- and two-week residential programs that expose students to various careers. Thanks to a grant from the EE Ford Foundation, Long Trail has dedicated seats in these programs.
This summer, our first group of Long Trail students participated. Morgan C., Class of 2025, reflected, “I entered the program unsure about International Relations, and while I left even more curious, I was also excited about the possibilities ahead.” Beyond academics, students enjoyed Boston’s vibrant culture with harbor cruises and trips to aquariums and beaches. Senior Naomi F. added, “There were always fun activities to choose from, like volleyball tournaments and pancake-themed karaoke, encouraging us to connect with new people.”
Rowan H.-M., Class of 2025, encouraged future Mountain Lions to apply, stating, “It’s a great opportunity to explore a career field and experience college life. I grew so much during the program.”
We’re thrilled with the success of this inaugural group and will send another cohort in summer 2025. Students in grades 9-12 should look for applications in November. Financial concerns should not deter participation, as funding for this initiative will be sourced from Long Trail School, Tufts University, and the involved students’ families. |
