Vermont’s Presidential Scholar
January 2025 –
The Vermont Agency of Education announced Vermont’s Presidential Scholar recipients and honorable mentions for the 2024–2025 school year in a recognition ceremony at the Vermont State House on January 27.
Long Trail senior Danika O. received an honorable mention. Art teacher Ian Mosher nominated Danika, saying, “They relentlessly pursue every chance they get to improve their skills. This includes taking every opportunity to push their talents outside of their comfort zone. Such ventures include woodworking, creating designs for bike lockers, cover art for the school yearbook, theatre productions, the arts annual, as well as prop work and background design for the theatre department.”
Presidential scholars are recognized in three categories: general, arts, and career technical education. Students are selected based on nominations from teachers and administrators, and in Vermont’s spirit of student agency, students are also able to nominate themselves.
Congratulations, Danika!
