Home of the Mountain Lions
Long Trail School embraces the opportunity to reinforce Long Trail’s Core Values through teaching student athletes about sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect. Long Trail strives to offer a variety of sports to accommodate the diverse athletic interests of its students, and is proud to offer 12 interscholastic sports with 22 teams spanning the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels.
Long Trail’s qualified coaching staff is comprised of very experienced teachers, parents, and local community members. In addition to knowledge in their specific sport, our coaches are also certified through the Vermont Principals Association (VPA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Our coaches are viewed as teachers of both the game and of Long Trail principles.
We do not have try-outs and never “cut” an athlete from a squad, as we wholeheartedly feel that every student, regardless of ability, skill or experience, should have the opportunity to participate and compete.
Requirements for Participation
As a member of the Vermont Principals’ Association, we adhere to their guidelines regarding athletic programs. To be eligible to participate in our athletic program, athletes need to make sure they have submitted a completed health form, concussion and handbook form.
Academics are the priority at Long Trail. Participation in all extracurricular activities is contingent on continued success in the classroom. For more information on specific eligibility requirements and policies, please review the LTS Student Handbook.
