College & Career Planning

At Long Trail, nearly 95% of our students transition directly to four-year colleges after graduation. Our students pursue diverse paths, from highly selective liberal arts colleges to top-tier research universities, specialized music and women’s colleges, as well as STEAM-focused institutes and international universities. This remarkable success in college placement is a testament to our students’ strong academic foundation, diligent preparation, and the personalized support provided by our dedicated college counseling program.

With an average graduating class size around 25 students, our Director of College & Career Counseling gets to know each student closely—understanding their unique strengths, interests, and aspirations throughout their time at Long Trail. This close relationship allows us to tailor the college search and application process to meet the individual needs of every student and family. Just as each student is distinct, so too are their college searches and lists, ensuring a personalized approach that gives Long Trail students a significant advantage in the college admissions process.

College counseling as a journey of self-discovery that commences long before discussing specific college names. It serves as a platform where every student, guided closely through their high school experience, can find their voice, explore their place within a community, uncover talents, nurture passions, and begin to envision their aspirations for adulthood. The director of college counseling plays a pivotal role in our school-wide commitment to assisting all students in utilizing their time in high school to discern the most suitable path toward their next stage of life.
