National Honor Society 2026 Induction
Long Trail School welcomed 26 students into the National Honor Society during a special student-led induction ceremony. The evening included remarks from Head of School Colin Igoe P’33, who encouraged the newest NHS members to recognize that the honor comes with a responsibility to give back.
Colin reminded students that leadership, scholarship, character, and service are not simply personal achievements, but qualities that should be used to strengthen the community around them. When we focus on supporting others and working together, he shared, everyone benefits. “The more you shine, bring your friends into the fold,” he encouraged the students.

During the induction, each of the four NHS pillars was represented by a candle as part of the traditional Candle of Knowledge ceremony, symbolizing the values these students bring to the Long Trail community.
At Long Trail, NHS students play an important role in the fabric of our school. Through service, volunteering, and supporting the school’s mission, they make an impact across campus and beyond. From raising money and awareness for cancer research to organizing Red Cross blood drives and supporting other community-based initiatives, NHS students lead by example and put the values of service and leadership into action. The chapter is led by History Department Chair Julia Craig ’24.
Congratulations to our 26 newest National Honor Society members on this well-deserved honor! We look forward to seeing the many ways they will continue to lead, serve, and make a difference in our community.
