Staff Directory

Colin Igoe serves as Head of School at Long Trail School. Since stepping into this role in 2022, Colin has led a period of significant growth and strategic transformation at LTS, resulting in record enrollment, programmatic expansion, and philanthropic support.

Before leading LTS, Colin served as Head of Upper School at St. Mark’s School of Texas and Dean of Faculty & Academics at Lawrence Academy.  Throughout his career, Colin has remained grounded in the classroom and community life, serving as an English teacher, soccer coach, dorm parent, and wilderness leader.  At LTS, he teaches “Habits of Thriving,” a required course for 10th grade students focused on civic engagement, character, and leadership.  

Colin is deeply involved in the broader educational community, serving as the Vice President of the Vermont Independent Schools Association (VISA), on the Membership Committee of the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE), as a Trustee for Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, and on several accreditation teams for NEASC and AISNE.  He previously served as a Trustee at Parker Charter School, part of the Coalition of Essential Schools. 

Colin earned an M.A. in English from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English, an M.S. in Education from St. Joseph’s University, and a B.A. in English from Wheaton College, where he played on the men’s soccer team.  

Colin and his wife, Dr. Molly Igoe, live in Dorset with their three children and dog, Maple Creemee.
